& Marine Life
Pacific Northwest Shell Club was
established in 1960 with its purpose to promote the study of molluscs,
of shell collecting and the preservation of molluscan
and their habitat. Read about our Scholarship Program below. Our
membership ranges from beginners to professional scientists. We
are based out of Seattle, Washington, with
our current meeting
location just north of the Seattle city limits.
Meetings are free for anyone to attend and feature
presentations. Meetings often include show-and-tell, silent
auctions and door prizes. Members are always welcome to bring
shells to trade or sell. While we especially love shells, we also love
to talk about all of the marine life we
see, locally and worldwide.
We are always eager to share information, discuss new finds, help
identify species, and
network with other enthusiasts
both amateur and professional. Not all of our members are shell
collectors. Having a love
of marine life is all that is required!

Pacific Northwest Shell Club offers an annual scholarship to students
who are doing research on Pacific Northwest mollusks. Students
must be currently enrolled college graduate students, post-doctoral
researchers, or supervised senior undergraduate students at a college
or university within the Pacific Northwest or their associated marine
research should be malacologicial in nature and advance our
understanding of mollusks or their role in their environment.
Scholarship recipients will be expected to either present a
program to the club describing their results, or provide an article for
the newsletter. Their dissertation, or resulting publication,
will be included in our club's library.
